owner of this skill and knowledge and creator of the magnificent art.
Specific:
• To reduce the gap of disproportionate distribution of the benefits between
artists and middle man and between creator and buyers.
• To promote exploitation free Thangka business.
• Retain Thangka artist in same profession with opportunity to earn to maintain
respectful livelihood.
Objectives:
To introduce different types of Thangka painting in the global market
- Make Thangka painting as sustainable source of livelihood and respectable profession
- Make an environment favorable to Thangka artist in domestic market to improve their living standard and life
- Struggle against exploiters who has been exploiting Thangka artist since long time
- Unite Thangka artists under the umbrella of BETTER WORLD
Features
Art Studio:It is one of the units of LTC where different quality of Thangka painting is
created for business purpose.
Training Center:
It is the next unit of LTC. In this unit general and special training is given to
those interested (national or foreigners) individuals. Both practical and
theoretical approach is used to train the trainees.
Thangka Gallery:
It is a unit where Thangka paintings painted by students and artists belonging to
LTC and other Thangka painting studios are collected and made available to
viewers and the buyers. We are also working to build an online gallery of images and their meanings to help international community lear about Thangka paintings.
ACTIVITIES:
v Two students, Kabita Lama from Ramechhap district and Kumari
Tamang from Solumbu are learning Thangka painting and studying in
10+2 in Pashupati Multiple Campus, Chabahil, Kathmandu.
- LTC is providing Thangka training to 40 urban migrant, illiterate, and
unemployed women under its capacity building training support of
BETTERWORLD FAMILYNEPAL.
- LTC is providing literacy classes to illiterate students and staff in
collaboration with Better World Family Nepal (BWFN).
- Weekly discussion classes to empower artist
- Took part in Thangka exhibition organized by Nepal Tourism Board
(NTB) and Buddhist traditional Thangka art foundation
- Took part in exhibition organized by Federation of Nepal Small and
cottage scale industries (FNCSI)

Future plan:
· Organize Thangka exhibition in various parts of Nepal alone or in
collaboration with others and move forward for exhibition internationally.
· Organize continue and huge level awareness camp to both producer and
consumer
